ESTABLISHMENT HISTORY
The Cabinet, in its meeting on August 14, 2020, agreed, among other things, to the proposal of the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) Bill 2020. Subsequently, the IPCC Bill 2020 was passed in the House of Representatives (Dewan Rakyat) on July 26, 2022, and in the Senate (Dewan Negara) on August 8, 2022.
The Independent Police Conduct Commission Act 2022 subsequently received Royal Assent from His Majesty the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on October 8, 2022, and was gazetted as Act 839 on October 18, 2022.
Act 839 came into force on July 1, 2023, as per the Federal Government Gazette P.U.(B) 574 published on November 21, 2022.
